Images of bugs. Most of these were taken using the 100-400mm Canon lens rather than the 100mm macro (or the wide 10-18mm that has macro). I find it extremely difficult to get close enough with the macro lens since the bugs tend to go away quickly. Using my remote control will probably do the trick in solving that issue, but there are a number of other issues with the macro lens. Biggest of these is the fact that you have to use a very high f-stop number to get any depth-of-field. This in turn requires you to compensate with longer exposures which does not work well with fast-moving subjects. Bumping up the ISO can only go so far before the graininess becomes a problem. Since this is not a competition I took the easy way out - use the long lense, and pick bigger subjects!
